BBHA Practice Policies

Appointments, Cancellations & Late Arrivals

  • Late arrivals are accepted, but the visit ends at the scheduled time.

  • Rescheduling requires 36 hours’ notice. Late reschedules (within 24 hours) are treated as no-shows.

  • No-show or late reschedule fees $75.

  • Virtual options are available and can be switched up to 1 hour before if allowable by law.

Refills & Medication Policies

  • Please give 5 days’ notice for refills outside of an appointment and confirm availability with your pharmacy first.

  • Non-controlled medications can be refilled for up to 6-12 months.

  • Refills for non-opioid controlled medications will be issued no more than 3 months at a time.

Telehealth & Out-of-State Patients

We are licensed in South Carolina and North Carolina. The practice of medicine is performed wherever the patient is, not the physician. We require a face-to-face visit to establish care with us. Virtual visits may be an option to establish care if a face to face visit is scheduled.

We can temporarily continue care for existing patients located out of state (e.g., college students) for conditions already established under a current treatment plan. Please notify us in advance if you will be out of state.

Mutual Respect & Termination Policy

We aim to create a respectful, collaborative, and safe care environment.

  • We do not tolerate verbal abuse or hostile behavior toward our team.

  • We respect your right to choose your care team. Likewise, we reserve the right to terminate care with 30 days’ notice if therapeutic trust or safety is compromised.

Forms & Letters

  • Short forms or letters completed during a visit are included.

  • Forms completed outside of appointments, or long forms (e.g. FMLA) incur an administrative fee and are completed within two weeks.

  • Urgent requests (< 72 hours) carry an additional fee.

Home Visits

Home visits may be available in select neighborhoods, based on clinician availability and appropriateness. A chaperone must be present.
